A Pictorial History

Volume I

A community's history is compelling
because it lays a foundation
to what we've become.
"
Allyn Arnold

The catalyst behind the idea of producing this book was the number of people who visit the Cayucos Library and ask for a publication which contains the history of the town. Since the History Project, under the umbrella of the Friends of the Cayucos Library, has been collecting articles and photos as well as conducting interviews with senior residents, born in Cayucos and still residing in it, the committee seized on the opportunity to satisfy a need. However, the quantity of material collected, and the volunteer time available, presented too formidable an undertaking for publication in a single definitive volume. These factors precluded that the most realistic strategy, to best serve the reader with a better product, was to break down the material into three publications. Each volume will have a principal theme, but also will focus beyond for the greatest enlightenment on the history of Cayucos. The theme of each volume is as follows:
    Volume I: Early Cayucos
    Volume II: Important Leaders
Volume III: Cayucos in the 20th Century
The books will be filled with interesting historic photographs arranged to zoom the reader into the past history of Cayucos in an absorbing and informative way. A brief text accompanying each photo will server to keep the reader aware of time and place in the story of this interesting town, which still maintains an historic charm and magnetism so enviable in today's race to modernism.
